Probably not but shh! Let’s not spoil the fun!
Now, you either believe in ghosts or you still have your sanity intact. If like me, you’re the former, then grab a cuppa and snuggle under the blankets while I discuss all things that go bump in the night.
So, when did I actually consciously start believing in ghosts? In all honesty, I don’t know. Was it when I was little and used to stay over at my grandparents who used to have a room with a long corridor that led to the loft? Me, my sister and my cousins used to joke that dead bodies were dumped down that corridor (way before our grandparents bought the house, of course) and that their spirits still lingered. Or did I start believing when I was eight and would sneakily turn my TV on at 1am, only to spend the rest of the night with the light on because the horror film playing had nearly frightened me to death?
I guess I’ve always believed in them, to some extent. But its only within the past few years that I’ve become a bit obsessed. And by that, I mean I watch all the ghost shows and listen to some podcasts. And that brings us to the actual purpose of this post – to share with you some of the paranormal media I love to devour! 🙂
Buzzfeed Unsolved/Watcher
Surely you must have seen the Buzzfeed Unsolved show on YouTube? If not, drop everything, yes, even this blog, and go do some scouring of the famous video sight. The shows hosts, Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej are an absolute delight and they play well off each other. Their scattered banter, between the ghostly investigating, is a well needed break from the tension and unease that build as you watch through the episodes.
Now, the seasons are all out and there, sadly, won’t be anymore as Ryan and Shane have left Buzzfeed to go and do better things. Luckily, you can follow them on their new journey on the Watcher channel! There they are joined by friend, Steven Lim, to bring even more banter and spooky times. They also do other shows on the channel like food shows and top 5 beatdowns. BUT they also have a show on this channel called Too Many Spirits; where Steven concocts Ryan and Shane alcoholic beverages throughout the season for them to get drunk on while they read spooky stories – it’s all as fun and humorous as it sounds! I promise! They have also announced a new ghost show that should be starting this year and I’ll be sure to do a blog post when it’s out.
This Paranormal Life
Have you been looking for a ghostly/supernatural podcast but don’t know where to start? Then allow me to introduce you to my favourite! This Paranormal Life is a comedy podcast hosted by Kit Grier Mulvenna and Rory Powers as they dive into different paranormal tales and cases every Tuesday. Again, there’s lots of banter and humour to be had throughout – so you don’t get too spooked! One problem I have is that I scare easily so can’t watch horror films or listen to most scary podcasts, that’s why I always seek out those with some comedy to them. But fear not! This podcast isn’t just laughs they do also seriously lay out the paranormal cases and each give their opinion at the end as to whether they believe it’s truly paranormal or not. It’s the perfect podcast to listen to while getting ready in the morning, or curling up with a hot chocolate, etc.
The Silent Companions
Want a creepy book that will have you leaving the light on at night while you sleep? Yeah, I know I said literally a paragraph ago that I don’t do horror… but I like horror in the form of literature. And my main recommendation is The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. This one FREAKED me the f out! It’s very eerie and follows a couple of different timelines. It’s a ghostly tale that I don’t want to talk too much about because… um, spoilers! But here’s a general summary:
Newly married, newly widowed Elsie is sent to see out her pregnancy at her late husband’s crumbling country estate, The Bridge. With her new servants resentful and the local villagers actively hostile, Elsie only has her husband’s awkward cousin for company. Or so she thinks. For inside her new home lies a mysterious wooden figure – a Silent Companion – that bears an unsettling resemblance to Elsie herself…
That is the summary taken straight off the back of the book. And… those wooden figures? Yeah, you’ll be sleeping with the lights on for sure!
So, there you have it! Some ghostly forms of content for you to devour to your hearts content. Do let me know if you’re interested in any of them, and perhaps you’ve already consumed some of them? Let me know in the comments as I’m always willing to discuss my interests with others! 😀
I started believing when I saw a bright white orb of light float out of my girlfriend’s bedroom and down the hall just a few feet from my eyes. The poltergeist in my bathroom sealed the deal.
I’m totally serious, by the way.
Just added an episode of “This Paranormal Life” to my podcast feed to check out!

I don’t know how I’d react if I saw anything like that. My only dealings have been when I’m asleep as I suffer sleep paralysis a lot and I’m not too sure if what I see is real.
And I hope you enjoy their podcast! I’ve been hooked for over a year now 🙂
